"We women are so much more sensible. When we tire of ourselves, we change the way we do our hair or hire a new cook or re-decorate the house. I suppose a man could do over his office but he never thinks of anything so simple."
The satirists at Public Service Administration have already scored numerous hits over the campaign season with their high-production value skewerings of both candidates and media. Their send up of Obama's will.i.am song "Yes We Can" managed to both mock the earnestness of the original while emphasizing just how little optimism is generated by John McCain's policies and positions. And for my money, their "Bass Motives" is a blast of cathartic humor for anyone who is already sick to death of campaign commercials.
The Field can now confirm, based on multiple sources, something that both campaigns publicly deny: that Senator Clinton has directly told Senator Obama that she wants to be his vice presidential nominee, and that Senator Obama politely but straightforwardly and irrevocably said "no." Obama is going to pick his own running mate based on his own criteria and vetting process.
And that is all that anybody needs to know to understand the childish and wounded behavior of Senator Clinton yesterday, grandstanding hypocritically to senior citizens in Florida, telling them they should consider themselves under sniper fire in Bosnia, er, Zimbabwe, aggrandizing herself as some kind of civil rights leader (MLK? or LBJ? She didn’t say this time) and attempting to corner 30 members of the DNC’s Rules & Bylaws Committee that will meet on May 31 to resolve the disputes over whether, and, if so, how, delegates from Michigan and Florida might be seated at the convention in August.
The Graham Norton Show episode with Martin Sheen, comedian Ed Byrne and musical guests Will.i.am and Cheryl Cole will premiere on Saturday, May 3, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on BBC AMERICA.
The Brit talk show kicks off its third season on BBC AMERICA this Saturday, April 26, 10:00 p.m. ET/PT with Tony Curtis, Kevin Bacon and musical guest Robyn. Graham Norton takes the audience and celebrity guests one step further than other talk shows dare and this season continues that tradition.
Tony looked terrible btw, but when he could remember, told a good story. Kevin was funny, especially when he got Graham to go find the YouTube video some guy made of him that started out nice but ended up with a stick figure of Kevin get it from behind from the guy who made the video. Very funny. Unfortunately, Youtube removed the video already otherwise I would include it).
Very short diary. I'll try to add something more later. Just want to get this out.
Barack Obama has release their newest ad, which takes Hillary Clinton to task (big time) for being so cushy with Lobbyists and "saying "they are people too"."
Ouch. And He's got enough $$$ from REAL people to put on a full, ONE MINUTE ad.
PRINCETON, NJ -- Barack Obama, who has come under attack by his presidential rivals for describing small-town voters as "bitter," seems to be weathering the storm to this point as far as voters are concerned. He maintains a 10 percentage point lead over Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination, 50% to 40%, according to the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking.
Sorry it's a shot diary (more of an announcement).
Hillary might have gotten former Pittsburgh Mayor Sophie Masloff to endorse her today, but there is a wave of endorsements set to endorse Barack Obama.
11 in total.
From the Philadelphia Inquirer:
A bevy of city and state elected officials - specifically, six City Councilmembers, three state represenatives and two state senators - are expected to endorse Barack Obama for president at 2 p.m. today in City Hall.
"In addition to voicing support for their preferred Democratic candidate, this endorsement event is meant to balance the endorsements of other political leaders in the city and state, including Mayor Nutter and Governor Rendell," stated a press release announcing the event.
Nutter and Rendell are backing Hillary Rodham Clinton in Pennsylvania's April 22 primary.
Hillary Clinton's chief campaign strategist met with Colombia's ambassador to the U.S. on Monday to discuss a bilateral free-trade agreement, a pact the presidential candidate opposes.
This is a pretty remarkable act of hypocrisy: during the past month, Hillary Clinton has repeatedly and falsely attacked Barack Obama on NAFTA, claiming that his top economic adviser told the Canadian government to ignore Obama's anti-NAFTA rhetoric. Now her chief strategist is working with the Colombian government to enact a trade deal she claims to oppose?
A new poll from Fox News, the first major poll taken since Barack Obama's big speech on race relations, shows that the effect of the Jeremiah Wright flap might not be so bad after all.
By a 57%-24% margin, registered votes do not believe that Obama shares Wright's controversial views. The internals show only 17% of Democrats saying Obama shares Wright's ideas, along with 20% of independents and 36% of Republicans.
Hillary Clinton told reporters that both she and the presumptive Republican nominee John McCain offer the experience to be ready to tackle any crisis facing the country under their watch, but Barack Obama simply offers more rhetoric. "I think you'll be able to imagine many things Senator McCain will be able to say," she said. "He's never been the president, but he will put forth his lifetime of experience. I will put forth my lifetime of experience. Senator Obama will put forth a speech he made in 2002."
... John has made an ominous threat. What I want to know, besides what he has on Hillary Clinton, is why is he waiting?
Barack Obama has answered Hillary's fear-mongering ad with one that plays off her theme and boy does he take it up a notch.
"When that call gets answered, shouldn't the president be the one -- the only one -- who had judgment and courage to oppose the Iraq War from the start?"
Hillary's roadmap to the nomination includes wins in Texas and Ohio, followed by a big Pennsylvania win seven weeks later. But these polls shows that Pennsylvania — the last big Northeastern state not to have voted — could suddenly be a tough race by itself.
Hillary is now only up by 4 points in Ohio, according to a new Public Policy Polling Poll and the president of the polling firm says, "Hillary Clinton is in big trouble."
A new poll from Public Policy Polling (D) shows the Ohio primary to be at its narrowest margin yet from any pollster. Hillary Clinton still has the lead, but it's a bare 50%-46% edge over Barack Obama.
"Hillary Clinton is in big trouble," said Dean Debnam, president of PPP, in the polling memo. "As recently as a week ago many polls in the state were showing her with around a 20 point lead. The race is trending heavily toward Obama and time is on his side with another eight day before the voting."
From the internals: Hillary leads 55%-42% among women, while Obama leads 51%-45% with men. Hillary leads 56%-40% among core Democrats, while Obama is ahead 64%-33% with independents and 80%-13% among crossover Republicans.
The AP reports that this is now Obama's race to lose since Clinton is "fading":
Barack Obama cruised past a fading Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Wisconsin primary and Hawaii caucuses Tuesday night, gaining the upper hand in a Democratic presidential race for the ages.
The twin triumphs made 10 straight for Obama, and left the former first lady in desperate need of a comeback in a race she long commanded as front-runner.
A new SurveyUSA poll gives Hillary Clinton a nine-point lead over Barack Obama in the Ohio primary — quite a bit less than the 17-point lead she had in their poll from just a week ago:
We made "No, You Can't" as a part parody/part homage (or "parage," if you will :-) ), to the original piece by will.i.am. We're inspired by the movement that Obama has set in motion, and wanted to poke fun at the entrenched interests and cynics who'll be pushing back harder and harder against us as our movement grows stronger.
